Verizon segments their
wireless plans into fairly broad categories - each designed to best suit your
usage needs. Several focus on heavy text message users, which may or may
not have any appeal to you.
Basic - straight forward wireless plans from
about $39/month. Lowest cost plans.
Select - plans that include unlimited or heavy
text messaging. From about $59.
Premium - full packages includes all they have
to offer - including Vcast video. $79+
Verizon also offers a
big selection of both Individual and Family plans. Their Family plans are
in the same categories as those noted above:
Family - Basic: 2
phones - from $69.99/month.
Family - Select: 2
phones - from $99.99/month.
Other Verizon Benefits:
Verizon offer's a best
in class guarantee policy. If you're not pleased with your phone or
prepaid INPulse plan just return it within 15 days for a full refund.
Cingular (which offers a best in class 30 day return policy) is the only other
prepaid wireless vendor we know of that offers a similar return guarantee.
Final Thoughts
and Recommendation:
Verizon's network is second in size only to
Cingular, and like all the major prepaid wireless providers the benefits of
going pay as you go are pretty obvious. Their network size and convenience
of retail outlets and return guarantee are great options, and per minute charges
are as low as anyone's.
In our tests for digital and point to point roam servicing, Verizon had
excellent coverage and tied Cingular/AT&T as the only providers to top our
ranking for network quality.
Look for free phone specials and take advantage of some of their super Family
plans. You can usually grab a fairly high quality Motorola or Samsung
phone if you enroll or renew to a 2-year plan.
